‘The Slants’ hallmark signed up today, 6 years after the application was very first submitted

Members of the Asian American band the Slants– delegated right, Tyler Chen, Ken Shima, Simon Tam and Joe Jiang– in Portland, Ore., in2015 (Anthony Pidgeon/Redferns)

” The Slants”– the hallmark associated with June’s Matal v. Tam Supreme Court decision— was simply signed up today by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, 6 years to the day from when the application was very first submitted.

Disclosure: I was among the legal representatives on Simon Tam’s Matal v. Tam quick, though the quick was mainly composed by my UCLA associate Stuart Banner.
